Reflections

Designed to enhance you child’s arts education, the Reflections Program provides opportunities for students to express themselves and to receive positive recognition for their artistic efforts.

Students are encouraged to pursue artistic expression through participation in its annual arts Reflections Program. Students in preschool through grade 12 are encouraged to create and submit works of art in six areas:  dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, and the visual arts (which includes art forms such as drawing, painting, print making, and collage).

The 2011 – 2012 Reflections Theme is:

Diversity Means . . .

Think about the theme, and then select a category. Students can submit entries in literature, musical composition, photography, visual arts, dance choreography, and/or film/video. Put on some dancing shoes, grab a camera, pick up a pen or paintbrush and create! Its fun! Work may be done at school or home and students may enter multiple entries.  Local Award of Excellence winners have a chance to move on to Council, Area, State and National PTA award levels.

For entry forms, general Reflections rules, and rules specific to each category please go to the Texas PTA website at http://www.txpta.org/programs/reflections/

Four Great Reasons to Participate in the Reflections Program:

  • Students need more opportunities to create works of art for fun and recognition, and the Reflections Program provides an outlet for students to creatively explore what they are learning in the classroom.
  • Participation in the Reflections Program gives students a chance to experiment in the arts.
  • When children express themselves through words, pictures, music, dance, film, and other art media, they grow intellectually; they learn to analyze their thoughts and feelings.
  • The Reflections Program helps parents recognize, support, and enhance their children’s continuous process of self-discovery.
