Environment and Healthy Fit
Environmental awareness is about different recycling programs we have at Teravista to not only save the planet but to earn money for the school. The following items we recycle at TvE:
- Empty Ink Cartridges
- Old Cell Phones
- Plastic Bottles
- HEB Bags
Paper is one of our largest opportunities for recycling. Our paper drive is available for the entire community. We have a large green and yellow dumpster outside near the car pick up line. Please save old junk mail, papers, and newspapers and deposit it into our dumpster! The more paper we collect the more points we earn for Teravista!
We have recycled about 10 tons of paper since Teravista Elementary has been open. Although 10 tons a paper seems to be a large amount with a community of this size we should have ten (10) times that amount. Please ask your friends, neighbors and relatives to recycle and deposit those unneeded papers into our dumpster.
All other recyclable receptacles are located in the Pro Center. Please bring them up at your convenience.
We are working towards becoming a GREEN School by the Go Green Initiative! We have completed parts of the program and hope to complete the rest by the end of 2011.
Why Healthy Lifestyles?
- Parents want to be certain they are doing the right things to ensure their children grow into healthy, happy adults.
- Schools want to be certain they are doing the right things to ensure their students stay in school and graduate as educated, productive adults.
Fact: Properly nourished children perform better in school-both academically and behaviorally.
Fact: Physical activity strengthens children’s bodies, minds, and self-esteem.
Fact: Healthy habits are best formed during childhood.
TvE’s PTA is committed to help build healthy families and healthy communities, and believes we all have an important role to play in making sure parents, schools, and communities have the support and resources they need.
We will be working on developing programs this year to help parents and students with healthy lifestyles. Please look for these on our website as well as coming home in Tuesday Folders.
We will also be working with our P.E. Coaches on programs like Marathon Kids to get our kids moving!
